Although I rebuilt a 1932 Plymouth coupe in High School and started college as an engineering student, I eventually graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School. I have been on the faculty of that institution for the past 38 years, as a vascular surgeon and since 2003 as the Director of their Cardiovascular Center. My academic career has included speaking engagements all around the world, and my writing has included over 500 articles and chapters, along with ten textbooks. You and your support as a young student got me started, gave me confidence, and taught me how to do things on time. I am forever grateful. Peace, James C.
