International English Literature

Bless Ms. Holmes for organizing an African diaspora festival

In 1968, when I organized a small Commonwealth film festival in Lagos, Nigerian Wole Soyinka was a brilliant star. It inspired me to plan to expand American Lit into International English Lit, a required introduction to the world we need to better understand.

When I quit class teaching for the more interesting mass teaching through alternative media like the Welcomat, I travelled the globe to educate myself in IE Lit.

When I review an African's book in the Broad Street Review I'm on the same track: diminish our ignorance of the others who never had the special opportunities we have had for centuries.
